TSMP Asks for Your Support

December 2020

Dear friend,

We hope that in this time of unprecedented turmoil and uncertainty, you and your family are safe and healthy. It’s been a challenging year that has demanded that we all adapt and change.

Adaptation and re-imagining have been front of mind for us at TSMP. In February we were gearing up for our 15th anniversary season when it became clear that nothing would be proceeding as planned in 2020. Our last in-person event was our Dancing Families series on March 1st at Volta Studios.

As we prepared to shift to virtual programming, our priority was to stay connected - to each other and our audience - in the most accessible way possible. So, we built a suite of online offerings, all free or with an optional donation:

  • Our spring performance became a video disseminated online.

  • Our Barre at the Bar event became a bimonthly virtual series, raising funds for TSMP and other nonprofits.

  • Our rehearsals became weekly zoom sessions.

  • Our Dancing Families series was made into a video available for families to watch at their leisure.

  • We built a beautiful new website (you’re here!) to highlight our process and past work.

It has been a bumpy and imperfect 15th season, but through it all, we have been clear that our commitment to each other as a company, and to our community of supporters and audience, is a long-term one. As our trusted community members, you have been with us throughout our history. This year we are asking you to commit to us, once again.

As we look toward the future, we plan to continue our virtual programming and slowly build back our in-person events in a safe, protected way. As a company, we’ll be taking field trips to a variety of outdoor environments to improvise together when weather allows, documenting our process as we go. Once safety protocols allow, we’ll invite you, our audience, to join us.

In order to do this, we need your support.

Pivoting our programming entirely while losing the majority of our earned revenue has been a major hit. We believe in TSMP - not only in the work we make, but in the community we form and support, and in the processes we develop. Can you donate to TSMP in order to keep community art making vibrant for years to come? Please click here to give, and remember that any amount makes a huge difference for our small company.

Thank you,

Anne, Ashley, Elise, Lauren & Leah
